Near the turn of the 19th century, a Red Wing, Minnesota shoe merchant named Charles Beckman saw a local necessity for shoes suitable for the demanding work of those involved in the mining, farming and logging industries.
These gruelling jobs required footwear appropriate for the harsh working conditions, coupled with a shoe comfortable enough for the hardworking people who wore them.
Beckman set out to develop work boots to fulfil this need and in 1905, he and fourteen investors opened a company that would put a spin on the market. Naming the company Red Wing Shoes, a new standard of excellence was born.
Red Wing products are proven to perform and outlast. Behind each pair of shoes exists over a century of experience.
Red Wing Shoes: "Work is our work."
