Surf Swap Number Three

It just wouldn’t be a proper summer without a Deus Surf Swap so the first Saturday of August the parking lot took a transformation into a busy hive of activity with smiles and surf stoke while the Wall Of Foam pumped beautiful sets. From board shorts to board bags, the lot was filled with laid-back creatives peddling their wears and showing the color of the culture with a common love of the ocean. Collectors from the golden age of Venice California brought great collections of old foam. Scavenger Brand set up an amazing display of skateboards inlayed with vintage surf button-down shirts. The legendary Brian Brent brought up his old truck filled with handmade 'United 50' surf tees and art and even jammed a set of high energy rockabilly beats with his daughter Esther donning roller skates on the drum set. Birdwell Beach Britches had their Big Red truck with the boardies, bags, and good vibes. Classic beach tunes were supplied between sets of The Hollow Legs, who played a couple sets of good tunes. Raen Optics, who we've done some collaborations with on some special Deus Ex Machina sunnies, had a table showcasing their newest tints. Local legend Ray Flores, of the original Dogdown and Z-Boys clout had a great selection of vintage foam from an era past. Pacman the pinstriper did some dashing lines on whatever people brought him, a couple of electric guitars and even an old lunch box. To say the least, there was a lot happening inside and out and we all had a lot of fun. Fun bolstered by the gracious Venice Duck Brewery who supplied us with aptly-named 'Dogtown IPA' Special thanks to...
