A couple of dirt bikes, a stack of surfboards, an old Land Rover, and jaw-dropping Indonesian terrain and surf breaks: A perfect recipe for a fun trip and the premise of Deus's much anticipated film South to Sian. We screened it to a full house at the Art Theater of Long Beach last week, a prime venue for such an occasion. A line of anxious people formed outside the historic theater and snaked around the entire block while a handful of the two-wheeled sort met up at BA Moto garage in Signal Hill for a pre-screening beer and rode over to the 4th street venue. Dustin Humphrey, the director of the film and co-founder of Deus Bali was on hand to introduce the film along with Deus family member Forrest Minchinton, whose riding talents are featured in the surreal volcanic landscape. It was a real honor to have them in the house. The stoke-quotient was thru the roof. Throughout the film, the auditorium was filled with thunderous cheers of excitement and 'YEWWWW!!'s. An appropriate response, really; It's a film that makes the heart rate rise and to be perfectly honest it's just plain hard not to make a peep. Special thanks to The Inertia, Byrd Hairdo Products, RAEN, and 805 Beer for their support of the premiere. See other South To Sian content HERE. Deus will be releasing an exclusive DVD+book set shortly and keep an eye out for the film's online release by Garage Films on July 15th.
