A Way North - The Pacific Northwest

Making my way through the Pacific Northwest has been an amazing experience and I have enjoyed every minute of it. I have avoided the rain and kept warm on the bike by layering a lot of clothes until the sun came out to burn off the fog. I’v been surfing a lot of beach breaks with some fun banks that remind me of back home in Australia. Weaving my way along the coast through some beautiful small towns and countryside I made it all the way through the state to the Columbia River that boarders Oregon and Washington where Lewis and Clark made their overland voyage from St Louis in 1806. After a day of small waves and I checked my phone and received a message from a friend about a big swell that is due to hit Southern California in the coming days so I checked the surf reports and I made up my mind to try make it back to Malibu. After 680 miles in one day and made it back for the biggest swell in 50 years. -Matt Cuddihy
